JAN BYERS
An accomplished and senior executive, Jan Byers has a mix of corporate experience in both the government and private sector and has held senior management positions for more than 15 years. This has given her exceptional ability and understanding in both strategic and operational HR.

During her three years in the APS, Jan was the Branch Manager for Victoria and Tasmania with CRS Australia (Commonwealth Rehabilitation Service). With over 30 site offices and more than 450 staff, Jan was responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans and ensuring operational budgets were achieved. Jan was instrumental in building a motivated and high-achieving team. Jan was also a senior member of the Strategic Business Group, chaired by the CEO of CRS where she had responsibilities for development of HR strategies at the corporate and branch level.

Jan’s experience includes the process of developing and implementing Collective Agreements, mediation, investigation of code of conduct and grievance cases, the development and refinement of performance management systems, the development of position descriptions and organisational structures and the development and implementation of change management strategies.

Before she worked in the APS, Jan was General Manager, Operations at Tattersall’s and Coles Myer where she spent 11 years. Jan managed large and diverse teams and was responsible for significant profit budgets. Jan was able to achieve a major profit turnaround in the Tattersall’s business and exceed growth targets during her time at Coles Myer. Part of Jan’s success has been her ability to build capable and motivated teams.
Jan’s practical skills and experience are complemented with tertiary qualifications in management, organisational development and marketing.
